No. 8 Observatory Road is a 20-storey commercial development with retail and restaurant floors at the podium and office floors at the upper zone. Given a wide frontage, the building is highly visible from Kimberley Street. To avoid a bulky outlook of the building, its major façade is split into two halves of by an eye-catching boomerang-shaped lighting feature, with one half set back to give a layering effect. The protruding half adopts a playful and faceted elevation treatment by using glass of higher reflectance at the curtain wall, highlighted by vertical lighting strips and several terraces. The remaining half is dressed up with curtain wall of less reflective glass to form a subtle backdrop. The building culminates at the top two floors which cantilever out to capture the panoramic view of the Victoria Harbour and Kowloon metropolitan.
