This impressive free-standing building is conceived as service apartment development with multiple repetitive small to medium size units. Lager ones are to be found only on the top floors as duplexes. As a result, the major façade is dominated by repeating elements mostly in the forms of windows placed tightly together. Vertical slits are introduced cutting through the imposing uniform façade to create interest. Further attempts are employed to jazz-up the image with the help of a glass curtain wall and irregular forms of the duplexes on top floors, which provides at the same time a crowning moment for the building’s soaring height. A five storey podium for parking, creational facilities and shops is designed to integrate with the high block rather than being seen as a separate entity as in most of the large residential development in Hong Kong. Bold and interlocking forms dominated the podium expressing their different functions behind and echoing in larger forms (horizontal and box-like) the language of the high rise.
The corner of the podium facing the open space will be breaking and opening up to receive the plaza which will become the forecourt for a grand double height glass entrance to the residential tower.
